Synthesis of Alkylphosphazene High Polymers via the Polymerization of Monoalkylpentachloro cyclotriphosphazenes, N3P3Cl5R.

Abstract

A new class of high molecular weight poly(organophosphazenes) has been prepared by the thermal polymerization of monoalkyl cyclotriphosphazenes, N3P3Cl5R. These are among the first high molecular weight polyphosphazlenes with alkyl groups linked directly to the skeleton through C-P bonds. Elastomers were obtained by the replacement of the chlorine atoms in the polymers by trifluoroethoxy or phenoxy groups. (Author)
