The Tribo-Electric Effect of Liquid Flow and Its Applications

Abstract

The flow of liquids through dielectric tubes is shown to produce a frictional electromotive force, and an empirical relation is established between the voltage generated and the various experimental factors controlling it. The application of the effect to the measurement of the flow rate and the electrical resistivity of fluids is discussed.
