Development of Advanced Interceptor Substructural Material.

Abstract

This report is aimed at the development of ultra-high-modulus graphite/epoxy structures for use in future advanced terminal interceptors. The work has produced a preliminary full-scale design and demonstrated, experimentally and analytically, that the design will carry the loads. More study needs to be conducted and some further experimental work is recommended before a full-scale article is tested. The present work has concentrated on testing the aft joint and an intermediate ring for holding an equipment package in the frusta.
