Digital Imaging Research for Meteorological Applications.

Abstract

Planning for this joint research on digital imaging by electrical engineers and atmospheric scientists began in early 1976. At that time the use of digital solid state memory under small computer control to refresh a CRT to produce a 'digital image' was in its infancy. The research focused on the design, procurement, test, demonstration and meteorological research use of the new system. It was very successful and has received national and international acclaim. This Final Report includes complete details of the research on both hardware and software aspects of the system. This research has already lead to the design and research use of the next generation of digital imaging systems.
