Abstract

A major difficulty faced by visitors to Japan, and those trying to contact Japanese scientists, is the lack of a comprehensive listing of investigators and laboratories. This compilation is the first installment of an attempt to satisfy this need. In this volume, the name, address, and telephone number of 317 institutes supported by the Ministry of Education are given Explanatory notes are added where the specialty of the laboratory is more restricted than indicated by its name, or where the name might be open to misinterpretation. The size of the each laboratory, is terms of staff and budget, is given for Japanese fiscal years, 1974 and 1976. (Author)
