Frequency Diverse Tracking/Guidance Millimeter Radar Adapted to Target Acquisition,

Abstract

Millimeter wave radar fire control for ground-to-ground tactical weapons provides a compromise between the resolution offered by electrooptical and infrared systems and the adverse environment (fog, battlefield smokes) penetrability which is characteristic of microwave systems. The effectiveness of millimeter sensors would be greatly enhanced if they could also be used to classify radar returns resulting from clutter, tanks, personnel carriers, etc., and particularly from stationary targets.
