Case Study Use of Editspec, the Corps of Engineers Computer Aided Specification Preparation System,

Abstract

The Corps of Engineers has developed a computer-aided specification preparation system known as EDITSPEC. Corps-wide implementation is scheduled in December 1980. EDITSPEC resides on one national computer system. Users access the system through typewriter terminals. Output is received at the typewriter terminals, local medium-speed printers, or central site high-speed printers. This paper describes the benefits expected from application of the EDITSPEC system, the guide specification process, and finally the method used to prepare project specifications.
