Photon Source SGEMP Spectrum Evaluations

Abstract

Methods of evaluating photon spectra for SGEMP effects are discussed. A set of evaluation parameters is selected which may be readily computed for arbitrary photon spectra in the range 1 to 1000 keV. Representative satellite positions and materials are described, and the parameters are tabulated for certain classes of spectra. Algorithms are provided for relating the tabulated values to arbitrary photon spectra. Both linear and nonlinear responses are treated and sample computations performed. Descriptions and user instructions for programmable calculator codes to compute the parameters for arbitrary photon spectra are given.
