Wideband Multiplex System.
Abstract
The objective of this contract was to design and assemble a wideband video multiplexing system which would provide a means for distributing several wideband video and sync signals on a single coaxial cable to multiple video display terminals. Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM) is employed in this system. It divides a particular portion of the RF spectrum into discrete information channels. Each channel contains separate composite video and sync signals for subsequent display. Five separate channels are provided with an assigned channel bandwidth of 6 MHz per channel. Channel frequency is determined by the modulator (transmitter) unit, which generates the appropriate RF carrier. Channel assignments conform to the commercial TV band and include channels 2, 4, and 5 for bus 1 and channels 7 and 9 for bus 2. Selection of these channels insures sufficient channel spacing to minimize interference.
