Design of Fault-Tolerant Computers Using ROM as Basic Building Block.

Abstract

A new class of codes particularly effective against unidirectional errors has been developed. These are systematic codes which correct symmetric errors as well as detect all unidirectional errors. Hence, these codes have a potential use in the design of fault-tolerant computers. A technique to decompose ROM-based logic is developed here. This technique is formulated by using Galois switching theory.
