Failure Rates for Fiber Optic Assemblies

Abstract

This report presents updated reliability prediction models for those components used in fiber optic assemblies. Device types considered include light emitting diodes (LEDs), light emitting diode (LED) displays, laser diodes, phototransistors, photodiodes, optically coupled isolators, fiber optic cables and fiber optic connectors. The reliability prediction models are presented in a form compatible with the existing models of MIL-HDBK-271C.
