Control, Decontamination and Disposal of Mercury.

Abstract

Practical procedures are presented for the control, decontamination and disposal of mercury. The physical and chemical characteristics of mercury and the most feasible cleanup procedures are discussed. Shortcomings and detailed procedures for using the calcium polysulfide method of decontamination are described. Problems involved in the decontamination of carpeting are presented. The toxicity and monitoring procedures relating to mercury are covered, along with first aid treatment. (Author)
