Data Analysis of Film from AFGL Rocket A31.603.

Abstract

The film from the 16 mm camera onboard AFGL spacecraft-charging experiment rocket A31.603 (21 Jan 1978) was reviewed and analyzed to identify coincidence of frames with operation of the rocket's ion and electron accelerators, determine payload aspect and rotation rate, and assess the intensity of fluorescent and other optical radiations from the plasma surrounding the vehicle and the vehicle surface. Upper limits determined for the radiance and volume emission rate of glows excited near the rocket were compared with theoretical predictions. (Author)
