Ground Controlled Approach Controller Training System (GCA-CTS)

Abstract

This report describes the development of an experimental prototype Ground Controlled Approach Controller Training System, an automated adaptive training system designed to teach precision approach radar control skills. The system is unique in that it is the first to employ the automated speech technologies to automate the training of a primarily verbal task. The design embodies all the lessons learned in previous laboratory studies. This report outlines the rationale behind the system design and offers observations, conclusions and recommendations.
