Statistical Inference for a New Model in Reliability.

Abstract

A new family of life models proposed by Glaser (1980) has densities. The family includes all gamma distributions, all exponential distributions, all normal distributions left truncated at zero, and a variety of distributions having bathtub shaped failure rate functions. In this paper statistical inference for the family is considered with an emphasis on determining whether the sampled model fits the bathtub category.
