Electronic circuits and Optical Sources for fiber Optic Systems.

Abstract

This document is one in a series of technical reports on the subject of fiber optic systems design. This report covers the electronic circuits and optical components needed to design high-performance laser and LED (light, emitting diode) transmitters for optical communications. Subsequent reports in this series will cover the design of low-noise, high-sensitivity preamplifiers, including related hardware such as AGC (automatic gain control) and FM receivers. Applications involving a bidirectional link and video transmitter and receiver are also described, as well as architectures and concepts for development of complete systems. (Author)
