Asymptotic Techniques in Ignition Theory.

Abstract

An analysis is given for the ignition of a reactive material by an electrical wire heated at constant power. The wire temperature history is described for small and large values of the electrical heating rate and for solid and gaseous reactants; in the case of gaseous reactants the effects of convection have also been taken into account. The results of the analysis include closed form expression for the ignition time in terms of the physicochemical parameters. (Author)
