Solid Shield '79 Common-User Dial Communications, Application of Telephone Switchboard SB-3614(V)/TT Aboard USS SHREVEPORT (LPD 12) for Direct-Dial Ship-Shore Radio.

Abstract

Observations were made of automated (direct-dial) ship-to-shore communications in connection with the Solid Shield '79 exercise 10-21 May 1979. Various equipments were installed aboard USS SHREVEPORT (LPD 12) to form one AN/VCC-2 multichannel (MUX) radio of rf trunk, on a common-user shared basis. This shipboard direct-dial/MUX radio system interfaced with one Marine Corps shore system, which provided access to the entire Solid Shield network. Full operational ship-shore trunking capability was available throughout the exercise. (Author)
