Experimental Examination of the Enhancement of Gyrotron Efficiencies by use of Profiled Magnetic Fields.

Abstract

An experiment in which the enhancement of the efficiency of gyrotron oscillators through profiling of the magnetic field at the cavity is discussed. Electronic efficiencies to 65 percent were obtained, with power levels of 1-100 kilowatts at 35 GHz. Satisfactory agreement with theory was found. (Author)
