Theoretical Modeling of SCOT Columns.

Abstract

A description of the thermodynamic processes that occur within a SCOT column is presented. The unique geometry of the SCOT column was found to slightly alter the mathematical description of the thermodynamic phenomena as compared to the traditional packed column. The correlation derived from this thermodynamic description was used to determine experimental values for the heats of vaporization and boiling points for several light alcohols to verify its usefullness and validity.
