Universal Transparent Simulator (UNITRANS).

Abstract

The Universal Transparent Simulator (UNITRANS) idea was conceived by IRAA personnel as a potential relief to the high cost of testing entry control systems prior to their acceptance by the Air Force. A previous field test of Speech, Fingerprint, and Handwriting systems involved thousands of entrants and the work of many technically skilled personnel to test the three systems in the field. The UNITRANS effort therefore was an initial attempt to develop a universal machine testing device which could impact a variety of electronic signals to personnel identification and authentication equipments, and obtain a response which could be used as a substitute for the testing by entrants. The work of the contract demonstrated that the techniques available need much further development work. (Author)
