On the Use of Hierarchically Computed 'Mexican Hat' Features for Texture Discrimination.
Abstract
Bandpass Laplacian-like operators derived by a hierarchical discrete correlation technique provide natural measures of texture coarseness. This performance of these measures on a standard set of geological terrain types is comparable to that of conventional texture features that do not use directional information. (Author)
