Establishing Criteria for Assigning Personnel to Air Force Jobs.
Abstract
This report presents a comprehensive summary of the activities and accomplishments of the contractor, the Institute for Biotechnology, Texas Tech University, during the second year of the project. Working under the sponsorship of the Air Force Medical Research Laboratory with assistance from the Human Resources Laboratory, the contractor's program is directed toward improving the Air Force's present capability to select and assign personnel to Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSCs). This is being accomplished through the development of a validated objective criterion with which the Air Force can reliably evaluate the compatibility of an individual's ability or inability to successfully perform a selected set of well defined demanding tasks within a wide variety of Air Force career fields and jobs. During the first year of this project, a plan was developed for surveying the task demands of the AFSCs using a two questionnaire format. These were to be complimentary survey questionnaires serving as the primary vehicle for generating the input data needed for performing an analysis of the AFSCs to quantify not only tasks requiring significant physical demands, but all physical tasks down to the least demanding.
