A User Guide to the DCIEM XDC-1 Digital Decompression Calculator.

Abstract

The XDC-1 Digital Decompression Calculator is a microprocessor-controlled computer based on the DCIEM pneumatic analogue decompression computer for calculating the safe ascent depth of divers. The calculator, which was developed by CTF Systems, Incorporated, on a contract with DCIEM, is a versatile instrument which can be used for planning and analysing dives in the calculator mode, or, for on-line dive monitoring in the real-time mode. The parameters used in the calculation of the decompression model are accessible from the keyboard and can be changed for investigating theoretical modifications to the model. This report describes the XDC-1 and the various ways in which it can be used for calculating decompression profiles and monitoring dives. Examples of calculations are presented. (Author)
