A Structure for the Development of an Engineer Model.

Abstract

This thesis presents the basic outline and structure for the development of an engineer model which will be incorporated into the STAR land combat simulation model. A discussion of common engineer missions, U.S. and Soviet engineer units, and their organizations and methods of operations, is used to motivate the focusing of attention on two events which are the emplacement and the breaching of obstacles fields. Several measures of effectiveness are suggessted for use in determining how obstacles, and thereby engineer forces, influence the battle outcome. (Author)
