Parametric Cost Methodology.

Abstract

This report discusses the concept, advantages and disadvantages of parametric cost estimation and points to the need for explicitly incorporating degree analogy between the system whose cost is to be predicted and the historical data base. Mahalanobis distance is proposed as a measure of analogy and its properties studied. A new variable selection criteria is proposed which incorporates both fit and analogy. An example is given to illustrate its use. (Author)
