Feasibility Tests of the Remote Medical Diagnosis System.

Abstract

The Remote Medical Diagnosis System (RMDS) feasibility tests were performed to determine the usefulness and technical requirements of a shipboard system designed to provide assistance in making emergency medical diagnoses aboard ship. This experimental RMDS unit used commercially available equipment. Initial tests were conducted between two land sites, and later operational tests were carried out on three vessels and at two shore stations. The RMDS concept was demonstrated to be feasible. Further system development, using state-of-the-art technology, is recommended. (Author)
