Pyrolysis-Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy Analysis of AE 502 Rubber Fuel Hoses.

Abstract

A simplified method of determining rubber elastomer formulations is described. Pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy was employed as a primary analytical technique to determine monomeric species of the basic elastomer. Supercritical fluid (CO2) extraction followed by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy was used to extract and characterize plasticizers, antiozonants, antioxidants, and other additives used in the rubber recipe.
