Humboldt Bay Wetlands Review and Baylands Analysis. Volume III. Habitat Classification and Mapping and Appendices.
Abstract
A principal purpose of the Humboldt Bay Wetlands Review and Baylands Analysis is to provide an objective basis for the evaluation of permit requests and development activities in wetlands and associated aquatic resources of the Humboldt Bay area. To achieve this it is necessary to develop a data base against which to evaluate permit applications. It is also necessary to define the jurisdictional limits of the Corps authority in order to determine whether an activity requires a permit. In consideration of these concepts, the objectives of this portion of the study are: to classify and map the habitat types of the study area from an ecological perspective; and to delineate the limits of 'waters of the United States' and adjacent wetlands as interpreted from Corps regulations. Final delineation of the limits will be determined by the Corps on a case-by-case basis.
