Static Bending Tests on GRP-Vinyl Foam Sandwich Beams.

Abstract

Static bending tests were made on three beams of glass reinforced plastic (GRP) and rigid vinyl foam sandwich in order to determine their bending strengths and modes of failure. The static strength data was also required to establish load levels for subsequent bending fatigue tests on this type of sandwich construction which the Royal Australian Navy proposes to use for a catamaran minehunter.
