High Performance Auxiliary Power Unit Technology Demonstrator.

Abstract

The report covers the design, procurement, and testing of two High-Performance Auxiliary Power Units in the 500 shp class. The program demonstrated the ability of the LPU-101-700 power producer, combined with a modified existing APU in an advanced state of development, to meet Air Force minimum requirements of 1.7 hp/lb and 130 hp/cu ft with an sfc of 1.0 lb/hp-hr or less. Two units were successfully subjected to extensive environmental and endurance testing. (Author)
