Solar Flare X-Ray Spectra between 7.8 and 23.0 Angstroms.

Abstract

We present high resolution x-ray spectra taken during a large solar flare on 10 June 1979. Many lines of highly ionized iron are resolved and identified for the first time in solar spectra. Lines with a wide range of excitation temperatures are found to have a similar time development during the flare's rapid rise phase. We discuss density-sensitive line ratios in Fe XXI and Fe XXII.
