Windsounding Feasibility Demonstration.

Abstract

The results of a feasibility demonstration of a system for measuring horizontal winds between the flight level of an aircraft and the earth's surface are described. The system utilizes a dropsonde to provide measurements of pressure, temperature, and humidity, and, in conjunction with the Omega Navigation System, provides real-time measurements of the vertical wind profile.
