Abstract

Purdy Dam is a stone masonry dam. It is located on Salt Lick Creek approximately 3.2 miles east-southeast of New Milford in New Milford Township, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. The dam was found to be in fair overall condition at the time of inspection on 27 October 1980. No unusual weather conditions were experienced during the inspection. Noteworthy deficiencies observed during the visual inspection are described briefly in the following paragraphs. THe complete visual inspection checklist, field sketch, top of dam profile, and typical cross-section are given in Appendix A. An erosion gully was observed at the right downstream abutment of the dam. No other significant problems were observed.
