Cape Code Canal, Massachusetts Design Memorandum. Master Plan for the Development of the Recreation Resources.

Abstract

This Master Plan recommends the following courses of action to solve the major problems associated with the recreational use of Cape Cod Canal related government lands: (1) A major renovation of the Herring Run area including a visitor center to provide a focal point for visitor information. (2) An overall program to preserve and restore scenic qualities through landscaping, removal of power line intrusions where feasible, nature trail lay-out and new plantings at key locations. (3) In cooperation with the Town of Bourne, expansion and improvement at Bourne Scenic Park. (4) A new Sign and interpretive program to direct and acquaint the public with the history, use and varied outdoor recreation vailable at the Cape Cod Canal. (5) Replacement of present police uniforms for employees on patrol with a green ranger type uniform. (Author)
