Subsea Permafrost Research Techniques,

Abstract

Information on subsea permafrost is beginning to reach a critical focus as a result of the proposed industrial development. Subsea permafrost information is urgently needed in support of decisions to be made on national defense and security, national energy needs, and environmental considerations. It is very important to remember the indigenous population of northern Alaska. In order to develop their economic independence, the natives will be building breakwaters, winter harbors, piers, etc. in the near future. Information supplied by the subsea permafrost investigations is required by the decision-makers and design engineers for these projects.
