Oceanography of the Grand Banks Region of Newfoundland, March 1974-October 1974.
Abstract
Two cruises were conducted to the Grand Banks of Newfoundland during the 1974 International Ice Patrol season. The main purpose of these cruises was to assist Commander, International Ice Patrol in the prediction of iceberg drift. Direct current measurements were made in the Ice Patrol area with both subsurface current meter arrays and shipboard current meter stations. A flow onto the Grand Banks was observed in addition to the southerly flowing Labrador Current. An additional research project was completed involving the tagging of icebergs and the observation of their drift. (Author)
