Instrumentation and Software for the Collection Analysis, and Interpretation of Eye Movement Data During Reading.

Abstract

This report describes a method and apparatus for collecting and interpreting eye movement data, for research on reading pictures as well as text, that is both relatively inexpensive and portable. The report lists and describes hardware and software components of a data collection and data analysis system which provides precise information regarding the location, duration, and sequence of eye fixations during the reading of materials that are composed of both text and pictures. Also describes a procedure for collecting eye-movement data in non-laboratory settings such as classrooms. (Author)
