Flood Plain Information, West Branch, Rocky River, Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties, Ohio

Abstract

This flood information study covers 14 miles of inundated areas along the West Branch of Rocky River from its confluence with the East Branch to the Lorain-Medina County line. Within the study area, the stream flows through the city of North Olmsted, the township of Olmsted, and the villages of Olmsted Falls and Westview in Cuyahoga County and the township of Columbia in Lorain County. The objective of this report is that the data contained herein will be used as a guide by the planners and local officials for effective and workable legislation for the control of land use within the flood plain. This report is based on hydrological facts, historical and recent flood heights, and technical date having a bearing on the occurrence and magnitude of floods within the study area.
