Flood Plain Information, Little Black Creek, Towns of Gates, Chili and Ogden, Monroe County, New York.

Abstract

This report on the Little Black Creek Flood Plain within the Town of Chili, Gates, and Ogden in Monroe County has been prepared because a knowledge of flood potential and flood hazards is important in land use planning and for management decisions concerning flood plain utilization. This report presents a brief history of flooding and identifies those areas subject to possible future floods. Special emphasis is given to the impact of possible future floods through maps, photographs, profiles, and cross sections. This report does not provide solutions to flood problems; however, it does furnish a basis for the adoption of land use controls to guide flood plain development and thereby prevent itensification of the losses due to flooding. It will also aid in the identification of other flood damage reduction techniques such as flood control works and flood proofing of existing structures which may become a part of a unified flood plain management (FPM) program.
