Flood Plain Information, Cuyahoga River, Franklin Township, City of Streetsboro and Shalersville Township, Portage County, Ohio

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to collect and develop information on past and probable future floods which may be useful to local authorities in further studies, planning and action designed to eliminate or reduce flood hazards and to avoid future damages likely to be associated with development in flood plain areas. This report is based on hydrological facts, historic flood data, and other technical information bearing on the occurrence and magnitude of flood discharges within the study area. This report covers 10.7 miles of stream and flood plain area along Cuyahoga River beginning at Lake Rockwel Dam and extending upstream to the Northern Boundary of Shalersville Township, all in Portage County. Within the study reach the river flows in a southwest direction through the North-West quadrant of Shalersville Township, just inside the Eastern limit of the city of Greetsora it turns and flows to the south, discharging into Lake Rockwell in Franklin Township is entirely within the pool maintained by Lake Rockwell Dam.
