Cultural Resources Survey of Areas to be Affected by New Facilities at Two Locations Within the Indian Memorial Recreation Area, Lake Oahe, South Dakota,

Abstract

A cultural resources survey was undertaken at two areas within the Indian Memorial Recreation Area; these areas will be affected by the construction of new facilities. The survey included a records search, field surface reconnaissance, and field testing with respect to the project locations. Results of the records search, results of th field work, a general cultural historical outline, and references to previous research in the area are presented. There is no indication that many prehistoric or early historic remains will be disturbed by construction of these two projects. Further work is not recommended from a cultural resources management perspective. (Author)
