Synthesis of New Inorganic and Organometallic Materials.

Abstract

This report describes several research projects in organometallic chemistry. New methods are reported for preparing heteronuclear metal cluster complexes with osmium-platinum, -nickel, -rhodium, and -iron bonds. Reactions between platinum compounds and nido-carbaboranes yield new cage carbaplatina-boranes. The activation of acetylenes by nickel, molybdenum and platinum has been shown to give many novel organometal structures, and the results emphasize the role of dimetal complexes in reactivity patterns. New fluorocarbon complexes of platinum and molybdenum are also described. (Author)
