An Aid in Steepest Descent Evaluation of Integrals.

Abstract

A simple technique for determining the steepest descent contours of integrands is explained and programmed in BASIC, and then applied to a variety of examples, some of which are very difficult to ascertain analytically, including one with an infinite number of saddle points. The amount of programming is minimal, requiring numerical evaluation only of the derivative of an analytic function. (Author)
