US Strategic Interests in the Middle East in the 1980's.

Abstract

This memorandum examines the general nature of US strategic interests in the Middle East in the 1980's. The author briefly reviews traditional strategic interests in the region and follows this with a discussion of the factors which influence US interests. Next, US strategic interest for the 1980's are outlined. Finally, the author provides several suggested courses of action for the United States to further its strategic interests in the Middle East in this decade.
