SNIFFER: a System that Understands Bugs.

Abstract

This paper presents a bug understanding system, called SNIFFER, which applies inspection methods to generate a deep understanding of a narrow class of errors. SNIFFER is an interactive debugging aide. It can locate and identify error-containing implementations of typical programming cliches, and it can describe them using the terminology employed by expert programmers. (Author)
