REPORT OF THE DoD Laboratory Management Task Force

Abstract

This presentation will provide orientation to the work of the Laboratory Management Task Force and an overview of progress to date. The report contains recommendations for action at various levels of the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and within the Military Departments. We are firmly convinced that implementation of these recommendations can significantly enhance the vitality of the laboratories and improve the productivity of DoD Research, Development, and Acquisition (RDA) activities. If implementation is initiated promptly, we believe that the benefits should be fully apparent within two to three years. We also believe that with sustained management attention the contribution of the laboratories can be brought to an all-time peak within the 1980's.
