Fundamental Modelling of Reacting Flow in Ramjet Dump Combustors.

Abstract

The calculated results based on the universal two-equation model known as k-epsilon model of turbulence for recirculating, reactive and non-reactive flows in dump combustors (12 in. ID) are presented extending the previous results obtained in this Department. The experimental data on the combustion efficiency, flow fields and recirculation zones for such combustors from the Air Force Aero Propulsion Laboratory, Ohio and the Arnold Engineering Development Centre, Tennessee have been compared with those predicted by the present modelling procedure and found to be in remarkably good agreement.
