Abstract

This report describes and discusses the nine most critical, current issues in the field of maritime transportation as perceived by the National Research Council's Maritime Transportation Board. The nine issues, in no priority order are, Cargo for U.S. Flag Vessels, Federal Aid, National Security Federal Regulation, Shipping Industry Practices, Shipbuilding and Repair, Maritime Safety, Harbor Improvements, Energy Transport on Inland Waterways.
