APACK, A Combined Antenna and Propagation Model.

Abstract

Equations for predicting the electric far-field strengths, directive gains, power gains, and transmission loss for 16 types of linear antennas are presented along with an interview of the methods used to develop the equations. The effects of the radio surface wave including diffraction beyond the horizon as well as the direct and ground reflected waves are included. The equations were programmed in a set of computer subroutines termed the Accessible Antenna package (PACK). These subroutines may be called by other programs in order to compute antenna and propagation effects at frequencies between 150 kHz and 500 MHz over lossy earth. (Author)
